Why should you hire a professional photographer? Professional equipment and masters of light

Artistry, guidance, and existing in your family history are excellent reasons to hire a professional photographer for your family portraits. This blog focuses on two other essential factors: carrying professional equipment and the mastery of light.
Professional photographers carry professional equipment and they know how to use it. They invest thousands and thousands in the best material and have countless hours of practice and training. As a photographer, I have professional-grade equipment, which allows me to create portraits of the best quality, and I also have a backup camera, just in case! I have attended many photography classes, in-person newborn and maternity workshops and continuous education is part of my daily life (to refine pregnancy, newborn and baby photography, photoshop and editing skills, business education, marketing, etc.).
In my Manhattan studio I use both natural and artificial light for maternity and newborn baby sessions.
Professional photographers are also masters of light, which is the key element of photography. While they might have a preference in the type of lighting that they use, many of them are trained to use natural light or to create their own artificial light as required by the environment. In my Manhattan studio, I use both natural and artificial light for maternity, newborn and baby photo sessions. I have also learned to master the quality, quantity, direction of light as well as how to position my subjects according to the light. For example, in the newborn portrait above, captured in my Manhattan studio, the baby has been placed according to the light source (a window) so that it is flattering his cute newborn features and creates a beautiful butterfly shadow under his nose.
